About Youth (6th – 12th Grade)
CTR Youth exists to help students in 6th through 12th grade know Jesus, build genuine community, and discover their God-given purpose. Whether your student is exploring faith for the first time or has been following Jesus for years, there's a place for them here. Led by DCE Suzanne Watt, our students gather weekly for teaching, small groups, and fellowship — and we travel together for retreats, mission trips, and the national LCMS Youth Gathering.
What to expect
- Sunday School small groups for junior high and high school
- Confirmation classes with flexible Sunday and Wednesday options
- CTR-U on Wednesday nights with dinner at 6:30 PM
- Summer mission trips, retreats, lock-ins, and district gatherings
- Service projects with local non-profits
Sunday School
High School: Small Group Study in the Youth Room each Sunday, 9:30 – 10:30 AM, led by DCE Suzanne Watt.
Junior High: Sunday School Class in the Jr High Youth Room each Sunday, 9:30 – 10:30 AM, led by Jonathan Caspersen & Shaun James.
Confirmation Ministry
6th – 8th graders can attend Sunday morning class (9:30 – 10:30 AM) or CTR-U Wednesday nights at 5:30 PM. Students may attend one or both offerings — each is a different course of varying length, so families can build a schedule that fits.
Bring your Lutheranism 101 book, Faith Alive Bible, and Luther’s Small Catechism. Contact DCE Suzanne for books and schedules.
Mission & Service Trips
In non-gathering years, CTR Youth serve on a summer mission trip — most recently in Cincinnati, OH at Prince of Peace Lutheran with Immanuel Lutheran (Broken Arrow). Students served in outdoor projects, food pantries, and community meals. Our next trip will be summer 2027.
National LCMS Youth Gathering & Higher Things
CTR Youth attend the LCMS Youth Gathering every three years. The next gathering is July 3 – 7, 2028 in San Antonio, Texas. Look for details in early 2027 — and visit lcmsgathering.com to learn more.
We also attend the Higher Things youth conference every three to four years. Most recently we attended the Ft Collins, CO conference in July 2026.
Annual Retreats
Journey in January (high school), Winter Retreat (3rd–12th), and JOY (middle school with volunteer opportunities for high school) are all hosted at Camp Lutherhoma in Tahlequah, OK.
Youth Night
During the school year, on one Sunday a month, all 3rd through 12th grade students come together for a youth night. This event includes games, fellowship, and dinner.
