CRAFT FAIR: Join us for our 2nd Annual Craft Fair December 2 from 10-4:00! Vendor fees will go to the ECC and CTR Youth Ministry as a fundraiser. SAVE THE DATE on your calendar and invite a friend to come shop! 

LWML WOMEN’S CHRISTMAS DINNER is Dec. 14 at 6 pm in the fellowship hall. Tickets are $15 each, payable to LWML and go on sale next Sunday. Guests are asked to bring feminine hygiene products as a donation for Tulsa Day Center for the homeless. Questions?? contact Carol Fruehling at 805-1604.

CTR CHRISTMAS PARTY: Plan now to attend this year’s party on December 9 from 5-8:00 at the Glenpool Convention Center. Tickets are on sale at $15 per adult. Childcare will be available at the church for 10 and under and pizza will be provided for them.  Jenks Vocal Choir will be our entertainment.

OUTREACH FOOD DRIVE for South Tulsa is next week! Please remember to bring non-perishable food and household items for those in our area who are not as fortunate as we are.
 
CHURCH DECORATING: The Elders and Altar Guild will be decorating the church for Christmas on Monday, Dec. 4, at 6:00 pm. Everyone is welcome to come them. Pizza will be served. Questions?? call Bernie Zanter or Wanda Radke.
 
DOOR OFFERING: There will be a door offering in support of the ECC on December 3.

ECC FUNDRAISER: Check out the table in the narthex for a sale on CTR/ECC shirts. Sales continue through November and orders arrive in time for Christmas!!

CHILDREN’S CHRISTMAS PROGRAM: Please try to have your child at Sunday school if they would like to participate in this year’s program on December 13th at 7:00 p.m. Dress rehearsal, however, will be during Faith Friends on December 6. If you have any questions, please contact DCE Myrthe at families@ctrtulsa.org.
 
GIVING TUESDAY: You’ve probably heard of Black Friday, but have you heard of Giving Tuesday? Giving Tuesday, observed on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving, takes the focus off of the commercialism of Black Friday and Cyber Monday and instead celebrates giving back. our goal is to use Giving Tuesday to spread the Gospel message by raising money and awareness for LWML Mission Grants, which share the love of Jesus throughout all nations. www.lwml.org/givingtuesday

JUNIOR ROUSTABOUTS: We are excited to announce that on January 7th we will be kicking off a new program for all ages! Junior Roustabouts is a service group for children from preschool to high school and their parents. This workday will include lunch and a service project led by our very own Roustabouts. Sign up near the library!
HIGH SCHOOL CHRISTMAS LOCK-IN (9th-12th)
January 20th-21st @ Immanuel in Broken Arrow
Cost is $0 to attend. Bring a snack, white elephant gift and items for the service project (announced later) as well as
comfy clothes, a blanket, and pillow. We will enjoy Bible Study, Christmas games, walk to the Rhema lights and more!

JR HIGH RETREAT (6th-8th grade): The Jr High Retreat is only CTR youth and friends. This annual event brings together our 6th-8th grade students and friends for a weekend of Bible study, fellowship and team building. Jr High Retreat @ Camp Lutherhoma in Tahlequah January 26-28, 2018. Cost is $70 per jr high student or friend & $35 per high school student leader You can sign up by returning a check for the registration amount (see above) & the form. You will not complete a medical form until after January 1st.

JOURNEY IN JANUARY (9th-12th grade): High School retreat at Camp Lutherhoma Journey is a high school Christian retreat that is planned, orchestrated, and run by High School Youth from around the state of Oklahoma. Register to attend with CTR by December 10th and pay only $110 to stay in either the Pine or Aspen retreat cabins! Get your forms in early! These cabins fill up FAST!! This price is good for both CTR members and friends they invite to attend!  Your linens, bedding and towels will be provided. If space is still available after December 10th, you may register up until December 24th for $140. Cost includes transportation, meals and housing for the weekend as well as all programming and a t-shirt. You can sign up by returning a check for the registration amount (see above) & the form. You will not complete a

medical form until after January 1st.

SOUTH TULSA COMMUNITY HOUSE:   We are in great need of just about everything “canned,” as well as other proteins such as dried beans, peanut butter, meat based soups. We also need clean and labels removed prescription bottles which we use to distribute shampoo, body wash/soap and the like. They request that you not donate any Ramon noodles.

 

COLLECTION CENTER:  Please remember to collect various ink cartridges and electronic equipment for the LWML; food and household supplies for South Tulsa Community House; various labels for ECC (check out the collection center for a list); various coupons for the military; eye glasses for MOST Ministries. All these items can be dropped off at the collection center at the south entrance.

BLOOD MOBILE will be at CTR on Sunday. WE NEED 5-7 MORE WALK ONS TO MEET OUR GOAL SO PLEASE INCLUDE SOME TIME IN YOUR MORNING TO WALK ON THE BLOOD MOBILE TO SAVE SOMEONE’S LIFE.

BOARD and LAY MINISTRY MEETING is scheduled for Monday, Oct. 23 at 6:30.
WIDOWS BIBLE CLASS is cancelled for Oct. 25.
ACOLYTES are asked to sign up for one or more Sundays on the new schedule that is located near the library.

Especially needed at this time are items for the cold weather: sweaters, long pants, coats, blankets. Visit the table in the entry hallway area for more information and to drop off  your items.   

CLUB 3-4-5: On November 10th, Club 345 will be adventuring to the Oklahoma Aquarium to sleep under the sharks! This will be a night filled with tons of fun and learning about God’s under the sea creatures! The registration fee for this event will be $40 per student and will include snacks, behind the scenes access to exhibits, many fun and educational activities, a flashlight tour, movie time, a devotional experience, sleeping under the sharks and breakfast the next morning! If your child is planning on attending please submit your $40 and medical release papers (can be found in the Family and Children’s Ministry Office) to DCE Intern Myrthe by Sunday November 4th.

CRAFT CLASS FOR CTR-U will be Nov. 8 at 5:30. We will be making an assortment of 5 glass ornaments. Cost is $5 and limited to 10 participants. Sign up today!
 
THANKSGIVING BASKETS: Donations of canned food, non-perishable items and household products are needed no later than November 12 for this year’s baskets. Monetary donations to purchase gift cards so families can buy perishable items for their Thanksgiving meal can be placed in the offering plate with Thanksgiving basket on the memo line or dropped off at the collection table.

Group Bible Study followed by a light snack and games. Other weeks we will have weekend retreats or special events.

CONNECT NIGHT has been cancelled for Saturday. It will be rescheduled for a later date.

SPIRITUAL GIFTS SURVEYS AND PLEDGE CARDS: If you haven’t filled out the survey or the pledge card, please pick one up today and turn it in. The survey results help align you with your strengths in regard to work done by CTR’s lay ministries. The results will be shared with those ministries as well.
 
FALL FESTIVAL is Sunday from 5-7 pm.

ECC WILL HAVE AN AUCTION during fall festival. The baskets will be on display on Sunday for early bids. You need not be present to win a basket. Please come and support the ECC by bidding on some wonderful baskets!

LWML BAKE SALE will be Sunday during church and the fall festival. Proceeds will benefit the LWML and their mission projects. Anyone wishing to donate baked goods is encouraged to do so.

TRUNK or TREAT COMPETITION: This year’s winner for best decorated trunk will receive a $20 Quik Trip gift card.

FLOOD BUCKET PROJECT: CTR will be collecting flood buckets, along with other OK District congregations, to help those affected by the recent hurricanes. Families are asked to purchase a 5-gallon bucket with lid and fill it with paper towels, disposable rags, glass cleaner, cleansing powder, liquid cleaner, 1-gallon size bleach, scrub brush, sponge(s) and 2 pairs of rubber gloves. These buckets should be brought to the church no later than Sunday, Oct. 15. 
 
FLU SHOTS will be available during church and fall festival on Oct. 15.

SUNDAY IS PASTOR APPRECIATION SUNDAY: Join us in fellowship as we show our appreciation to Pastor Burmeister during the Sunday school hour. The gym will be available for the youth to enjoy the bounce house with parental supervision. A basket for cards will be available. No Sunday school classes will be held.
 
LWML SUNDAY is Sunday. A door offering will be taken up for Mites.
 
LAST CHANCE TO SIGN UP FOR THE CTR-U CRAFT CLASS which is Oct. 11 at 5:30 and limited to 12. Cost is $5.00. Check out the display in the narthex for details.

Advent Devotional! The season of Advent is almost upon us. Please prayerfully consider writing a devotion to contribute to this year’s book, “The Genealogy of Christ: A Savior for Sinners.” We will be exploring different people from both Matthew and Luke’s genealogies in the build up to the Savior of the nations coming into the world! Sign ups and additional information are by the library.  Questions? Contact DCE Intern Myrthe Harkenrider.

CONGREGATIONAL MEETING  is Sunday at noon following a potluck. All are encouraged to attend. Babysitting will be provided.
 
CTR-U BEGINS SEPTEMBER 6: CONFIRMATION CLASSES from 5:30-6:30 PM are open to students in 6th grade and up. Sept. 6-Nov. 1 we will be studying Prayer, Nov. 15-Dec. 6 we will be studying Law and Gospel. FAITH FRIENDS is an option for children kindergarten-fifth grade! Come to the gym at 5:30 for a fun time exploring our faith. PRE-CONFIRMATION will start at 7:00. If you are in 4th or 5th grade, please consider joining us! PASTOR’S ADULT CLASS will start at 7:00 with Hebrews-The Fulfillment of Faith as well as his youth Bible study at 5:30 in the youth room. Check out the complete schedule and menu in the bulletin and/or newsletter for other men/women groups and music options.
 
WIDOWS BIBLE STUDY with Pastor Burmeister is at 10:00 in the library. The subject will be the LifeLight series on Mark. The class will meet every Wednesday.
 
LADIES BIBLE STUDY with DCE Suzanne is at 9:30 in the library on Fridays. Women of all ages welcome. Contact DCE Suzanne for more information or to order a copy of Love Rules.
 
JUNIOR HIGH REGISTRATION FOR JOY IS NOW OPEN! JOY is open to students in 6th-8th grade and their friends. This year’s cost is $130 for a CTR Student and $95 for CTR Friends (*Note a friend is a non-church member.) Please turn in your forms ASAP so we can reserve spots!!! You may pay a $55 non-refundable fee to hold your spot when you turn in your form and the rest on or before Sept, 30.  We will depart from CTR on Friday at 5:30 PM and return Sunday afternoon between 2:30-3:00 PM.

INTRODUCING CLUB 345! We are kick starting Club 345 (our third, fourth, and fifth grade youth group) with a trip to Pumpkin Town Farms on October 1st at 1:00 p.m. We are asking that every child has at least one parent or guardian in attendance.  With that being said, there will be a $5 payment per person due by Sunday, September 24th. After late service on October 1, we will be offering a pizza lunch for an additional $3 per person. Once we are done with lunch, the plan is to caravan over to the pumpkin patch.  We hope to have all our awesome third, fourth, and fifth graders at this first Club 345 event!

December 10th – Christmas Party
 
LWML FALL FEST is hosted by King of Kings at CTR on Sept. 16. Registration/coffee begins at 8:30. Patti Ross will be the speaker. Mission offering is baby diapers, formula, snack items (pudding’/fruit cups, PB/cheese crackers, etc.) Check out the registration forms at the LWML table in the narthex. 
 
LWML KICKOFF BRUNCH will be at First Watch (81st & Lewis) at 10:30 on Sept. 19. All ladies are invited. Please sign up at the display in the narthex.
 
LWML PACKING DAY will be Sept. 26. If you’d like to help pack up the various items that have been collected for LWR, please plan to attend at 10:00.
 
SOCIAL SECURITY: STRATEGIZE to MAXIMIZE is a workshop hosted by Thrivent Financial. Learn how to sort your options to ensure your choices will meet your needs. The fist workshop is Sept. 26 at 4 & 6:30 pm at Fellowship Lutheran Church. Check the October newsletter for other dates. Call 918-392-7130 to make reservations.

Young Adults Bible Study! On October 3rd we will be kicking off our young adult’s Bible study. The night will start at 6:30 p.m. at Taziki’s on 71st and Yale. After dinner, we will head back to church for a Bible Study on “You Lost Me.” If your schedule is crowded, you are welcome to come to just dinner or just the Bible Study. Please let DCE  Intern Myrthe know if you are interested in joining by emailing families@ctrtulsa.org.

Evangelism is preparing 4-foot crosses designed to be displayed in the ground (picket bottom), hung on a fence, house, tree or wherever you like (flat bottom).  There are four colors (chocolate, vanilla, rose or natural). PASTOR’S ADULT CLASS will start at 7:00 with Hebrews-The Fulfillment of Faith as well as his youth Bible study at 5:30 in the youth room. CTR-U CRAFT CLASS will be a pallet painting class on Sept. 13 at 5:30. The cost will be $12 and limited to 15 people. The class is now full of participants.

WIDOWS BIBLE STUDY with Pastor Burmeister is at 10:00 in the library. The subject will be the LifeLight series on Mark. The class will meet every Wednesday.

LADIES BIBLE STUDY with DCE Suzanne is at 9:30 in the library on Fridays. Women of all ages welcome. Contact DCE Suzanne for more information or to order a copy of Love Rules.

Faith Stepping Stones: As children grow we want to educate and train them in the faith when they come to the church, but we also want to give families the resources to continue that development at home. As each child in our church grows, we will put resources in your family’s hands to help them learn at home what they are also learning here. On August 27, 2017 we celebrate Christian Education Sunday and will have these resources available to each family for their home library. Please look for your child’s name with the appropriate age group and bring your book home. Some resources may span multiple grades or ages so if you brought your book home last year we ask that you do not take a repeat copy this year so others can share in these resources. Please share this book with your child and work with them as they Grow in Christ!

RECONNECT! The next Reconnect will be Saturday September 9th  from 5:00-7:00 p.m. This month we will be setting up not one, but two bounce houses!

JUNIOR HIGH REGISTRATION FOR JOY IS NOW OPEN! JOY is open to students in 6th-8th grade and their friends. This year’s cost is $130 for a CTR Student and $95 for CTR Friends (*Note a friend in a non-church member.) Please turn in your forms ASAP so we can reserve spots!!! You may pay a $55 non-refundable fee to hold your spot when you turn in your form and the rest on or before Sept, 30.  We can register students after Sept. 6 but room may not be available. We will depart from CTR on Friday at 5:30 PM and return Sunday afternoon between 2:30-3:00 PM.

All NEW Sunday Night Youth Schedule! Beginning in September we will have youth events 2 Sundays a month from 3:00-5:00 PM! You will have the option of participating in a Confirmation class or a Small Group Bible Study followed by a light snack and games. Other weeks we will have weekend retreats or special events.

INTRODUCING CLUB 345! We are kickstarting Club 345 (our third, fourth, and fifth grade youth group) with a trip to Pumpkin Town Farms on October 1st at 1:00 p.m. We are asking that every child has at least one parent or guardian in attendance.  With that being said, there will be a $5 payment per person due by Sunday, September 24th. After late service on October 1, we will be offering a pizza lunch for an additional $3 per person. Once we are done with lunch, the plan is to caravan over to the pumpkin patch.  We hope to have all our awesome third, fourth, and fifth graders at this first Club 345 event!

24-HOUR PRAYER VIGIL: The Elders are hosting a 24-hour Prayer Vigil at CTR Friday, August 18 at 7 pm through Saturday, August 19 at 7 pm. The Prayer Vigil will conclude on Saturday with a special prayer service led by Pastor Burmeister at 6:00 PM. Everyone is invited to attend this prayer service on Saturday evening. We will provide prayer requests and other materials for everyone to use during the Prayer Vigil, if they would like.

CTR-U CRAFT CLASS will be a pallet painting class on Sept. 13 at 5:30. The cost will be $12 and limited to 15 people. Check out the display in the narthex for details.

WIDOWS BIBLE STUDY will begin September 6 with Pastor Burmeister at 10:00 in the library. The subject will be the LifeLight series on Mark. The class will meet every Wednesday.

Faith Stepping Stones: As children grow we want to educate and train them in the faith when they come to the church, but we also want to give families the resources to continue that development at home. As each child in our church grows, we will put resources in your family’s hands to help them learn at home what they are also learning here. On August 27, 2017 we celebrate Christian Education Sunday and will have these resources available to each family for their home library. Please look for your child’s name with the appropriate age group and bring your book home. Some resources may span multiple grades or ages so if you brought your book home last year we ask that you do not take a repeat copy this year so others can share in these resources. Please share this book with your child and work with them as they Grow in Christ!

We are offering two training sessions this fall. Come learn on Sunday August 20th immediately following late service or Wednesday September 6th at 5:00 p.m. (before the first CTR-U). For each of these sessions, we will be meeting in the front of the church. Hope to see you there!

CHURCH SIGNS:  “All are welcome” CTR yard sign are available in between services this Sunday.  You can pick one up and place in your yard. A $3 donation is suggested.    
 
24-HOUR PRAYER VIGIL: The Elders are hosting a 24-hour Prayer Vigil at CTR Friday, August 18 at 7 pm through Saturday, August 19 at 7 pm. During that time we would like to have at least two people in prayer in the sanctuary at all times. There will be an Elder present at all times during the evening and nighttime periods for security. There are signup sheets available in the narthex. We would ask people to sign up for one-hour increments of time. However, you may stay as long as you would like. There can be multiple people signed up for any of the times, so just because another person is signed up for a particular time doesn’t mean that you can’t sign up for that time also. We know that the overnight hours may be difficult for some and we certainly understand, but please sign up for some of those times if you are able. Again, there will be an Elder present at all times, so no one will ever be alone. The Prayer Vigil will conclude on Saturday with a special prayer service led by Pastor Burmeister at 6:00 PM. Everyone is invited to attend this prayer service on Saturday evening. We will provide prayer requests and other materials for everyone to use during the Prayer Vigil, if they would like. Also, we invite anyone in the congregation to submit prayer requests that can be provided to the participants. These prayer requests can be anonymous, if you choose. Please submit prayer requests to the Elders’ drawer in the volunteer office or to John Meinders at jhmeinders@cox.net. We pray that this will be an edifying experience for our community, the congregation and to each participant individually.
 
BIRTHDAY INVITATION: You are invited to celebrate Marjorie Abel’s 100th birthday on August 13 from 1-3 pm at Montereau’s Rendezvous Lounge (6800 S Granite Ave. Tulsa 74136). Marjorie requests no gifts but welcomes cards if you are unable to attend. Simply add Apt. 430 to the above address. Marjorie is one of CTR’s charter members. Happy Birthday!!
 
LWML MITE GOAL IS SURPASSED!!!! Thanks to the generosity of many members of CTR, LWML’s goal of $2,600 was surpassed by $66.52! Spreading the gospel though the outreach of LWML’s many mission grants can only continue with the financial support and prayers from congregations throughout the nation. YOU have helped to make a difference throughout the world! On behalf of the many people who are touched by these grants, LWML thanks you!

WORLD RELIEF SCHOOL KITS: During July and August, we will gather up donations for school kits for World Relief. There are cards at the display in the narthex with the items needed. You can do complete kits or individual items. You can check out the Lutheran World Relief website to find out more information: https://lwr.org/get-involved/build-kits-of-care/school-kits. Monetary donations can also be made and Carol Fruehling and Lynne Kollock will buy the items for you. Simply mark LWR on the memo line or give the money to either of them. CALLING ALL MOMS: If you are interested in joining a supportive Bible study to discuss the joys, struggles, and complications of motherhood, contact DCE Intern Myrthe at families@ctrtulsa.org. This class will begin in the fall.

CONNECT NIGHT IS BACK! Join other CTR adults for a night of fellowship on August 12 from 6-8:00 at McNellie’s South City. Childcare, including babysitting and dinner, will be provided at the church from 5:30-8:30. RSVP to families@ctrtulsa.org  by August 5.
 
RECONNECT is a family-centered event that will begin August 5 from 5-7:00. This one is a game night so plan to bring your family and enjoy an evening of fun!! Pizza will be served.

LWML will meet on August 15 for a workday at 12:30. Assembly and packing of LWR school kits and MOST Ministries bracelets is on the agenda.
 
SENIOR FRIENDS will meet for lunch on August 13 at Ernestine’s new home (7821 E 76th St. #307).
 
SOUTH TULSA COMMUNITY HOUSE: We are in great need of just about everything “canned,” as well as other proteins such as dried beans, peanut butter, meat based soups. We also need clean and labels removed prescription bottles which we use to distribute shampoo, body wash/soap and the like. They request that you not donate any Ramon noodles.
 

COLLECTION CENTER: Please remember to collect various ink cartridges and electronic equipment for the LWML; food and household supplies for South Tulsa Community House; various labels for ECC (check out the collection center for a list); various coupons for the military; eye glasses for MOST Ministries. All these items can be dropped off at the collection center at the south entrance.
